Occupying a pioneering role in improving road safety is central to our aim of creating responsible, educated road users. Through quality training we believe it is possible to make a real difference; many of our newly qualified instructors cite improving road safety as a motivating factor as they set out on their new careers.

LVG regards its ongoing commitment to social and environmental issues as a vital part of the business model. In particular, we are acutely aware of the detrimental effect motoring has on the environment and we are taking positive steps towards greener ways of working.

Our corporate social responsibility is integrated into our strategy. Our corporate values of competence, honesty, efficiency, fairness and fun reflect our commitment to our social responsibility to all of our stakeholders.

Community

We implement an equal opportunities policy We are regulated by the DSA and have chosen to become members of ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Training), membership of which is currently voluntary We have a very clear cooling off period and refund policies which are highlighted to our customers We continually survey our customers to monitor the quality of our product delivery.

Environment

The board recognises that it operates within an industry that generates carbon emissions, however, we consider our social responsibility to be in minimizing those carbon emissions and demonstrate our commitment to eco-driving as follows:

We train people to teach others to drive efficiently, in a more economical fashion, which therefore results in lower carbon emissions

We train qualified drivers to drive more efficiently for work, therefore resulting in lower carbon emissions

All our company-car driving staff are continually assessed for their driving efficiency and safety

We select, for training purposes, a car that is designated in the published government list as producing amongst the lowest carbon emissions for a combustion engine vehicle in its class.

We have satellite navigation systems in our management vehicles reducing fuel consumption.

We are committed to reducing the emissions of our entire fleet within 5 years.

We regularly assess the suitability of alternative fuelled vehicles for training purposes and as company vehicles.

We have selected diesel engine cars as training vehicles to reduce fuel consumption by at least 30% thus reducing our consumption of fossil fuels.

We replace 95% of our fleet every 18-24 months ensuring maximum carbon efficiency.

We have contracts in place for service, maintenance and tyre replacement to ensure maximum carbon efficiency.

We repair windscreens where possible rather than replacing them, thus reducing glass production.

We invest in and encourage the utilisation of communications technologies to minimize the necessity of road, rail or air travel.

Staff

Charity

Our staff have always been generous in their support of charitable causes, including having contributed towards the refurbishment of a hospital in Sri Lanka following the tsunami.

The company encourages staff to support charities and participate in local charitable events.

Where possible, the company acquires computers in such a way that on disposal they are recycled and donated to good causes.
